About Porch Light Property Inspection

Property Inspector John Schwencke OCHI 1763
John Schwencke is the owner and Chief inspector at Porch Light Home Inspection. John started his career as a remodeling contractor with a focus on building science. He later founded and operated a green building company that specialized in home performance and enhanced energy efficiency. This experience eventually lead Porch Light Inspection to develop a Home Energy Scoring assessment division as an extension to real estate inspection.
Porch Light Home Inspection in Central Oregon has a strong reputation for reliability, friendly customer service, and professionalism. Porch Light’s Assessors are experienced and fluent in residential building inspections and home energy efficiency.

As a long-time resident of Central Oregon, Daniel has developed a strong connection to the community from which he has operated multiple businesses.
Daniel is passionate about green building and sustainable design, for which he has applied his skills to many construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. One of his favorite projects is the off-grid cabin he built for his family in Montana near Glacier National Park.
Daniel is a fully certified Home Energy Assessor and licensed Home Inspector through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). He is committed to improving the home buying and selling experience by educating Porch Light’s clients about energy efficiency and home performance.

Home Energy Assessment
Conducted by an authorized Home Energy Assessor which evaluates more than 70 pieces of home information are collected during the assessment. Information about a home’s envelope (e.g. foundation, insulation, walls, windows) as well as its heating, cooling and hot water systems will be entered into energy modeling software.
Home Energy Score
The home energy score measures the energy efficiency of a home based on an onsite evaluation of its physical characteristics. It is a standardized rating system that estimates a home’s energy use based on its “envelope” (foundation, roof, walls, insulation, windows), energy systems, and square footage. Developed by the US Department of Energy, it is a 1 to 10 score which provides home owners, buyers, and renters directly comparable and credible information about a home’s energy use.
