Home Energy Score

The home energy score measures the energy efficiency of a home based on an onsite evaluation of its physical characteristics. It is a standardized rating system that estimates a home’s energy use based on its “envelope” (foundation, roof, walls, insulation, windows), energy systems, and square footage. Developed by the US Department of Energy, it is a 1 to 10 score which provides home owners, buyers, and renters directly comparable and credible information about a home’s energy use.
